Careers at Wildscapes

Much of South East Queensland's native ecosystem has already been lost. The work we do helps ensure what remains has a chance to recover — and we are looking for people who understand why that matters.

Why Wildscapes

The Kind of Work That Stays With You

This is not a job for everyone. It requires physical endurance, attention to ecological detail, and the patience to let a system recover on its own terms. For the right person, it is some of the most meaningful work available in South East Queensland.

Most employers offer a job. We offer a practice.

Purpose-Driven Work

Restoring native vegetation structure, reducing invasive pressure, and leaving landscapes in a better ecological state than when you arrived. That is the measure of the work — and it is visible on every site you return to.

Tight-Knit Team

We're a small, committed crew who genuinely care about the work and each other. No corporate nonsense — just good people doing meaningful work.

Continuous Learning

We invest in your growth. From field skills to ecological theory, you'll be constantly developing your expertise alongside experienced practitioners.

Incredible Landscapes

Your office is the Scenic Rim, Gold Coast hinterland, and South East Queensland's most beautiful and ecologically significant landscapes.

Safety First

We take safety seriously. Thorough inductions, proper PPE, and a culture where speaking up about hazards is always encouraged.

Respect for Country

We operate with deep respect for the Traditional Custodians of the land and embed cultural awareness into everything we do.

IN THE FIELD

What This Work Actually Involves

Wildscapes field work is conducted across steep hinterland slopes, degraded creek corridors, and high-pressure weed environments throughout South East Queensland. Days are physical and site-specific — working in heat, humidity, and uneven terrain with tools, chemicals, and plants.

The work is repetitive in the best sense: it requires the same careful attention every visit, across every site, regardless of conditions. There is no shortcut to reading a site correctly or sequencing a weed program well. That precision is what makes restoration hold.

Progress is measured in what returns — not what is removed.

Working on steep and uneven terrain in all weather conditions

Targeted invasive species control using cut-scrape-paint, selective spraying, and manual removal

Native plant installation, mulching, and initial establishment care

Species identification and on-the-ground decision making

Photo-point monitoring and written site reporting

THE RIGHT FIT

Who Thrives Here

The people who do this work well share certain qualities. They notice details others miss. They are comfortable working independently and making sound decisions in the field. They take pride in doing things properly — not just completing tasks — and they understand that the land responds to how it is treated.

You prefer working outdoors over working at a desk

You are physically capable and comfortable in demanding conditions

You pay close attention to species, soil, and site behaviour

You do not need constant supervision to maintain quality

You are genuinely interested in ecological restoration, not just employment
